A

Incremental: pulses per revolution (1024-65536 ppr), homing required after power-up. Absolute: position known at power-up (multi-turn 25 bit over 4096 revolutions), no homing. Power-fail recovery → absolute.

TTL/HTL (classic incremental); EnDat 2.2, BiSS-C (high-resolution absolute, Heidenhain-patented); SSI (absolute industrial standard); PROFINET/EtherCAT (fieldbus integrated).
