Flow meters by operating principle — magnetic (conductive fluid), ultrasonic (Doppler, transit-time), Coriolis (mass flow), thermal (gas), vortex (steam, gas), positive-displacement (oil). Endress+Hauser Promag/Promass, Krohne Optimass/Optiflux, Siemens MAG/SITRANS, ABB CoriolisMaster and Yokogawa Rotamass lead process.

FAQ
Q Coriolis high-accuracy principle?
Coriolis measures mass directly (no density compensation), accuracy 0.1-0.5%. Suits custody transfer, blending and dosing/filling. But 5-10x cost of magnetic — only on high-value processes.
Q Clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters?
External mount, non-invasive, no shutdown — suits retrofit and temporary measurement. Accuracy 1-3% (vs in-line 0.5%). Krohne UFM and Siemens FUS are clamp-on representatives.
Q Open-channel flow?
Hydraulic and wastewater main lines use weirs (V-notch, rectangular) + radar level back-calculation. Accuracy 5-10%. E+H Prosonic and Siemens MultiRanger are industry solutions.
